www.lockergnome.com Some time ago, it appeared that everyone putting together a home theater was obsessed with having surround sound. These surround sound systems incorporate five (or more) speakers in an arrangement that allows the viewer to experience sounds from all sides. While these systems can certainly sound good, quality surround systems can be expensive and a hassle to set up, unless you don't mind wires laying across your living room floor. What makes this technology work, and is it really worth the hassle and expense over a quality two or three speaker solution? In this video, LockerGnome's Brandon Wirtz and Chris Pirillo tackle these questions and more as they discuss the differences between stereo and surround sound. lockergnome.com http facebook.com

Aiwa Bookshelf Stereo Repair
Aiwa Bookshelf Stereo Repair Tube. Duration : 9.85 Mins.
Got this from a good friend of mine, he got it new when we were in 8th grade. The problem with these older Aiwa systems was a failure in the volume control knob (a pulse-type rotary contact switch). Simply disassembling and cleaning the switch will fix most (or all) volume control issues. I have an Aiwa surround sound system with the exact same problem.

August 2010 Stereo Equipment Repairs
August 2010 Stereo Equipment Repairs Video Clips. Duration : 10.35 Mins.
Please read the whole description! This time around, my dad found a 2002-era Kenwood VR-606 home theater receiver at a garage sale, fully functional except for one thing: the display. Much to my dismay, I discovered that the display driver IC seemed to be the problem, as pressing on it resulted in the display working normally. I've never done surface mount device soldering, but I had no other choice than to try and it appears that I did succeed. As for my vintage Technics stuff, the SA-560 is playing again after a new relay was installed. The cheapest electrically compatible relay came from eBay. I know there are electronic component supply houses, but they can't compete by a long shot. The new relay is a Panasonic relay, which seems fitting. It works fine after installing some "lead out" wires from the circuit board to connect it. The SA-310 has a blown output. It's been removed in this video. Does anyone have an STK-2038 II module or better that I could obtain? It must be the "II" module type, as the plain STK-2038 is not compatible (fewer pins). A "bigger" module would probably work, just with reduced power output (and maybe less stress on its internals). Interestingly, once the blown module was removed, mounting points for individual transistors were seen in the heatsink. Did Technics plan to make this receiver with a discrete output?

AL STEWART - Year of the Cat - 1976 (Stereo)
AL STEWART - Year of the Cat - 1976 (Stereo) Video Clips. Duration : 6.37 Mins.
This video is for demonstration of Mono to Stereo only. www.alstewart.com This is Al Stewart's site. This is a Open-Source Enhanced Audio track. I have been working on new Stereo Audio ideas for OGG and WebM video. HTML5 video is going direct to your TV set. so I have been working on new ways to Enhance Audio. A Wide Dynamic Range will help when listening with Stereo Headphones. Convert all Mono videos to Stereo, for the best experience on Home Theater Systems and Computer Speakers. As a teenager, I used to experiment with various Phase situations and the old quadraphonic encoding, and come-up with various ideas to mimic audio for a Wide Stereo presence. Now with Open-Source Digital Audio, I can help old recordings sound better on Stereo Headphones for OGG and WebM videos. This is a great song, but it is in Mono. Now everyone can test the Stereo Sound on their Headphones. It is not 100% perfect, but it sounds great. Listen to this video in Ogg-vorbis by going to YouTube HTML5. My job is to convert Mono audio on video files to Stereo, the picture might be poor on a lot of low resolution Flash and other older video files, but sound is important to make the experience better. A person can Phase-Encode the rear channel similar to EV-4 or CBS-SQ, (I did not use Sansui QS). This will enable the rear in a custom Stereo process.
