These are the 4 pi speakers I recently built. They still need to be finished. They are Wayne Parham's uniform directivity design (www.pispeakers.com). Wayne has been unbelievably helpful with his advice. The high frequency driver is 1" throat B&C DE250 mounted on Eminence H290 horn , mid woofer is 15" JBL 2226H. I bought the drivers from parts express and crossovers from Mr. Parham and the wood panels cut to spec by the helpful guys at home depot. The midrange reproduction is fantastic. Voices sound spectacular! These speakers can reproduce the air and ambiance in a concert hall or venue if it is in the recording. Eg: BVSC at Carnegie Hall. Superb dynamics too. Therefore great for 2ch HT. I am driving these with a tube integrated amp with Russian made tung sol 6550 ~ 30 watts / ch.

A rough video comparison between the (2) new Sony cameras in various conditions. Note that in my motion test, I intentionally lowered the volumes to concentrate more on the image stabilizers for both cameras. Also, because YouTube limits video uploads to 30 fps, both cameras were set using the mp4 setting, not AVCHD at 60 fps. In conclusion, there is very little difference (in my own eyes and ears) between the cameras. It's more a matter of what feature set you need for a given situation. Still photos were also nearly indistinguishable at "Intelligent Auto" setting. One thing to note - As shown on the karaoke low light test, both cameras struggled to record low bass at relatively high volume levels without distortion. This can become a consideration if you plan on using either of these cameras for live concerts. I have found this to be a common characteristic of any video camera that uses mp4 or AVCHD format due to their aggressive compression standards even at the highest bit rate setting of the cameras. If you are into listening to your footage on a higher end audio system (ie home theater), you will be disappointed compared to the less compressed audio recording formats such as MPEG 2 and .mov.

Mastering engineer, Alan Parsons took full advantage of the Quad format, by ping-ponging sound effects, and the crazed laughter around you. On 'Us and Them', the echos circle around you, rotating the sound field each verse. If you have the proper equipment, and the source material, I urge you to experience it for yourself. I recommend experiencing this with four full range speakers and a Quad receiver, but any DTS capable home theater receiver will also do the job. Even with bookshelf/satellite speakers and a subwoofer. This unreleased (at the time) Alan Parsons Quad mix has been available since 2006, via a pirated copy supposedly made from the master tapes. As of September 27 2011, you can legally acquire this Quad mix in DTS form via; "The Dark Side Of The Moon - Immersion Box Set" on disc 3 www.amazon.com . I'm not sure if it's 4.1 (for people who do not have full range speakers, and rely on a sub for handling bass). Equipment used in video: Kenwood KR-8340 Quadraphonic receiver Four Sansui AS-200 3-way acoustic suspension speakers Audio is fed to the receiver using an HP desktop, using the front/rear outputs of the 5.1 soundcard. My equipment is an Onkyo TX-NR709 avr, Polk Monitor 70's fronts, Polk CS-20 center, Polk TSi-100 surrounds, Rotel RB985 amp, BenQ W6000 projector, Lutron MH600 remote controlled dimmer switch, and a Logitech Harmony One universal remote. This is a 3rd floor converted dormer bedroom. I did all the work myself save the electricians installing the recessed lights and ceiling power outlet (to the projector). The closet has an interior eletrical outlet for a future fridge and microwave. The entry door is weatherstripped to minimize sound leakage. I use remote controlled electrical outlets for the ceiling-mounted projector and the Rotel amplifier. Awsome sound for not spending much money. This unique small Wurlitzer pipe organ is in a basement of Ohio Valley Chapter's President, Joe Hollmann. The Wurlitzer RJ 4 Residence Pipe Organ, Opus 1985, was built in 1928 and shipped to the Wurlitzer store in Cincinnati Ohio. RJ signifies a Residence organ with a junior 105 note player unit. Residence Wurlitzers were small scale and were sutable and affordable for home owners that desired to have a pipe organ included in the furnishings of their home. Opus 1985 consisted of 4 ranks of small scale pipework all on 6 wp. The ranks were: Flute, Oboe Horn, Salicional and Open Diapason. The balance of the organ consisted of one regulator, one trem, one relay and switch stack, one swell shoe, one swell shade blade and blower. There were no percussions of any kind. Opus 1985 was sold to The Gilligan Funeral Home and installed in 1930 for the purpose of providing sutible reflection music for services. In 1952, the funeral home donated the organ to All Saints Church in Cincinnati, where it was installed by a local organ man. During this installation, the player unit was sawed off the top of the console and discarded, leaving the console badly mutilated. After 29 years of church service and no improvements of any kind, All Saints sold the organ to Ohio Valley Chapter member Herb Merritt. I got about 100 pm's asking how i built my projector screen. Apparently, people don't like getting wallet fucked by projector screen manufacturers. So rather than answering the same questions copy and paste over and over again, i can just refer people to this video. What i was saying toward the beginning that got cut off, was that i looked all over the place for a how-to video online for how to make a projector screen. Easily. Youtube, google. All that. And everyone made it sound so overly complicated i decided to do it myself. People...it's white cloth over wood! C'mon naw! Easy steps: 1) Go to home depot and get materials to build frame 2) Staple gun some white blackout cloth to the front of said frame. The type of cloth here is important though. You want to make sure it's a material the beam from your projector won't pass through when it's on. It has to be a solid beam stopper. Blackout cloth is perfect for the job and perfectly cheap. Altogether, i built this for under and although i made a couple mistakes, i learned from it and pointed it out here for you guys. Mistakes: overcompensate when you buy the cloth according to your measurements. You can never have too much cloth. If you have too much, you can always cut it or wrap around the back. Too little and you might just have to scrap it and go back to the fabric store. So be sure to buy at least 4-6" extra so you can wrap it around the back of the frame and staple to the back. I purchased a low cost, actually the lowest priced surround sound system that Wal-Mart had on the market. I think it was about 5.00 range. I cut in to the sheetrock and built in the system with the DVD player. It really sits in the closet of the bathroom now. Sure the Watts. are low on this low cost system, but really how much sound does one require for a master bedroom? - Anyways I cut the sheetrock and ran the wires behind the wall, then under the baseboards. I put the sub wof. under the bed. On a scale of 1- 10 I give this low cost project a 9 1/2 due to the simple fact that it looks very custom, did not cost any money, and give a great sound for pennies on the dollar. Patching the sheetrock from running the wires was the hardest part, and was took more time rather than hard work. This is proof that you can have a surround system that wont break your pocket book. Hope this helps, and remember that you can always purchase one or two steps above the low cost unit that I have and be happy. ( Total cost was as follows: System 5.00 Cables .00 Sheetrock supplies .00 Paint .00 Wood trim .00 and some personal work that took a few days.
