The successor system of S400 with a new possibility to connect L and R rear speakers to a real 5.1 system. Virtual surround now up to 7.1 for all possible blue ray sounds. Additional the connection of the apple products via USB, controlling via Yamaha remote control, and USB stick or hard disk to play mp3 (up to 320kbit/s), wav, AAC sounds. The material and design of the system is much better than S400. It is more professional or higher-quality. The surround sound is perfect, not real 7.1 or 5.1 but it is near by. The down fire subwoofer is great, big boom, and dry sound without any distortion or hum. The sound system is perfect for each user which don't like many wires of the loudspeakers. Only one common wire to the sound bar, that's it. Each wife will be lucky!!! I can recommend the purchase of the Yamaha System, 4 stars from five, because I'm missing one HDMI cable.

Hail storm - BIG one - that hit OKC on 5-16-10. Starts slow but really picks up about the 1min mark. VERY large hail and high winds. View is outside my apartment as it hit - starts off a bit slow but about 1min in ... it got pretty ugly for a while and was for over 5mins. About half way thru I sat the cam down for a moment to turn up the TV audio ... the mediaurologists were getting excited. This is a bit long at 7:30 and unedited but interesting. Apparently there has been some substantial damage across the path of the storm as it cut across OKC - the news channels are showing a lot of damage - from broken windows to stripped trees ("smells like pine outside"), siding and roofing. I know I've never seen anything like it.... as this is uploading, over an hour later, there is still a lot of fairly large hail outside that has yet to melt. I finished up the drywall, mudding, taping, and sanding! That was hard work that I don't wish to repeat. I began painting with the help of my lovely wife too! Yeah! It's really starting to feel like a theatre at this point! I applied corner bead to the soffits using a spray adhesive designed for the process. That's the pink stuff that you see on the wall. The ceiling paint is from Behr's Disney line: "Mouse Ears" in flat black. There are three coats up there. Matte black paint is very tricky to get looking good, FYI! Count on spending twice the time you thought you would painting your ceiling! I mounted two inches of John Manville Linacoustic RC ductliner to the screen wall. It will also be added to the sides of the subwoofers that face the audience. The idea here is to absorb sound so that it doesn't come out of the speakers, ping off of the back of the screen and the rear wall, and then ping back off the screen wall and hit the listener in the face late. This is not "soundproofing". That's not what you want to do anyway. The final sound treatment is to be determined but will likely include custom made wall panels and significant low frequency absorption in the stage corner and the rear closet. Thanks for watching! 3D: Active vs Passive Right now, whether you're viewing 3D in a movie theatre or in the home, doing so requires those funny glasses. There are two main types of 3D display technology: Passive and Active. In both cases, glasses are used that are matched to the display or projection format. We recently built our home and had it prewired for surround sound in the family room. The builders put junction boxes on the studs where the speakers would go. We had trouble finding any details on how we could install the speakers on our own with these junction boxes being on the stud and not have to cut into the ceiling joist/stud. We definitely did not want to leave the plate cover on the ceiling and put the speakers somewhere else on the ceiling! So we decided since we were able to do it ourselves then we would make this video to help anyone looking to do this on their own. It saved us plenty of money and is not hard to do. If you are a little hesitant to cut into your ceiling or wall then stop by your local hardware store such as Home Depot or Lowe's and then get a 4x4 or small scrap piece of sheetrock and practice on it first. Just recently picked up this center speaker for dollars off a1componets.com (free shipping). This little gem is something else. If you run a surround system in a room and have problems with low-voices or muddy bass sounds comming from your sub, upgrade to this center. Will fix alot of problems with mid-range uneveness and low-vocal volume. My setup is very basic. I run no subwoofer at the moment so all my speakers are set to Large in the receivers settings, exluding rears (I run a Yamaha HTR-5740, 85w per channel) so what you see in this video is an exaggeration of what the speaker is meant to do. Its never suppose to handle 60hz or lower frequencies, but you will see from this video that it has magnificent excursion for mid-range woofers (5 1/4") and the tweeter is very clear and reproduces all those highs very accurately at loud levels. A center with woofers is important, because this will give you more flexibilty in your Home Theatre setup. A center with bass capabilities will relieve the Subwoofer from those tedious mid-range sounds that can interfere with its performance on delivering lower range frequencies (20-50hz range) the results with the sub doing all the bass control on your typical 5.1 system running dinky sattellite speakers is muddy, unrealistic bass performance, because essentially you have 1 woofer doing everything.
